Oh, New York Times. You are funny. I really enjoyed your lengthy piece today on appreciating the ground below from the window seat.
But probably part of that enjoyment is because I already enjoy the five-year-old book series on this same subject: Window Seat: Reading the Landscape from the Air and Window Seat: Europe.
Mark Vanhoenacker and his Times editors: Did no one think to Google to see if anyone else had covered exactly this idea?
It would have been easy to include a link to author Gregory Dicum’s website, so that he could see some interest in the subject translate into book sales. His is a pleasingly original (*cough*) book series, and he even has a great list of earth-from-above sites on his web page to let readers discover more information for themselves. The books’ pages are pretty and informative. All of this would be useful to a Times reader who enjoyed this piece. Plus, it’s just good form.
New York Times, you sometimes remind me of my uncle, who just recently discovered this amazing new Facebooks site.
